PERSONAL HYGIENE IS VITAL IN THE FIGHT AGAINST THE SPREAD OF COVID-19

The 24th edition of the monthly WASH radio program on Anapua FM discussed the COVID 19 pandemic. Mr. Salam from the District Health Directorate and Felicia Ohenewa Larbi from the District Education Office were resource persons. They educated listeners on the essence of proper handwashing and personal hygiene during the pandemic. The radio education complements the school sensitization programs that the Asutifi North District Assembly had rolled out, following the government’s directive to reopen basic schools across Ghana.

Using data from the Ghana Health Service, the resource persons explained the general trend of the pandemic and touched on reported cases, recoveries, and the number of deaths. They emphasized the safety and prevention protocols laid out by the WHO and the Ghana Health Service and the roles of teachers and parents in ensuring the safety of children both in the school environment and at home. The resource persons concluded by educating listeners on the ongoing COVID 19 vaccination campaign of the government of Ghana.
