The ANAM WASH initiative over the years has been leveraging on partnerships and network building through ANAM WASH desk to promote universal access to safe water, basic sanitation and hygiene services to the people of Asutifi North District.
As such, the WASH Desk, in commemoration of 2023 World Water Day climaxed its weeklong campaign on water with an event at Kenyasi Market. World Water Day is celebrated annually to raise awareness of the importance of freshwater and advocate for sustainable water management.
In line with the theme for the year, “Accelerating change to solve the water and sanitation crises”, the desk took to town to interact with residents on the need to take action in their own personal lives to change the way they use, consume, and manage water. Also, to sign up to the WASH
network.

The engagement at Kenyasi Market provided a platform for residents to voice their grievances and concerns about WASH services in the district, while also receiving feedback to them. Through this dialogue, the ANAM WASH Desk was able to gain valuable feedback and insights from the community, which will inform future interventions and initiatives aimed at improving access to WASH services in Asutifi North District.
“Most of our water bodies that existed many years agoin this area has disappeared with the remaining ones disappearing due to human
activities”, remarked Wofa Atta.
Reaffirming the Assembly's committment toward WASH services improvement, District Planning Officer, Bismark Kyere Asante said, “The Assembly is committed and working to solve all access to water challenges". "As we make these commitments, it is also important to encourage the people of this district to do their bits in ensuring the sustenance of the overall gains”, added Bismark.
